Te Awahōhonu Forest Trust invites owners and beneficiaries to join us for a Waitangi Weekend Wānanga focused on connection to whenua, ngahere, and whānau.

Programme Overview

FRIDAY 6 FEBRUARY

Arrive from 12.30pm
Lunch together
Nursery potting session
Travel to Toropapa – hikoi to pā site
Shared BBQ dinner
History and pā site kōrero

SATURDAY 7 FEBRUARY

Parakuihi
Visit Ngahere Māori (Te Tawa Road / old Sika Hut)
Whānau firewood – loading trailers and utes
Lunch
Karakia/Depart 1.00pm

When registering, please let us know if you will be bringing a 4×4 vehicle, so we can plan accordingly.

🚙 Ikanui Hut is best suited for 4×4 access.

🏕️ WHAT WHĀNAU NEED TO BRING

• Outdoor covered shoes (required)
• Tents (if you prefer to camp)
• Bedding (sleeping bag, pillow)
• Water bottle and snacks
• Something to contribute for shared dinner
👉 No ovens available for reheating
• Clothing suitable for hot days and cool evenings

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES

• No dogs
• 4×4 vehicles preferred, but not essential
